About FBVA Brevard Basketball League |
FBVA Brevard basketball is committed to providing a safe and fun recreational basketball experience for all it's participants. We go to great lengths to make teams as equally matched as possible. Over the years, we have developed what we believe is a good formula for doing so. Attendance at the skills evaluation (especially for newcomers) is a vital part of that formula.
In order to make a "level playing field" we also enforce ALL the rules of basketball in ALL age groups. We do compensate for age, skill level, etc. to a certain extent but, for the most part, the rules are enforced. We keep score, maintain standings and have a season ending tournament which all teams participate in.
Player are required to play 1 1/2 quarters in each game. For age groups 11 - under, we have a rotation system for this purpose. (see league rules)
Coaches are all volunteers. Some coaches have lots of basketball knowledge and experience; others are still learning. We do not guarantee that your child will get the most knowledgable coach. However, all coaches are committed to providing the best experience possible.
Practices for the summer league may or may not be indoors. We have a limited amount of time in the gym at Eau Gallie High School on Sundays for practices. Practice times, frequency and location are up to each coach. Due to the wide range of areas from which our player come (south beaches to Rockledge), practices may be held outside of the Eau Gallie area. If you cannot participate in practices in other areas, please make a note of this on your registration.
We attempt to accomodate request to for players to play with their friends. However, there is no guarantee that this will happen. If two players request to play with each other, and both are outstanding players, it is likely they will not be playing on the same team.
Games will be held at Eau Gallie High School on weekends beginning in Dec and continuing through the end of Feb..
